Melissa Gessner is a Detroit-based writer and creative director who is passionate about ideas and expressing them in compelling, unexpected ways.
Beyond building strong brands through strong conceptual creative work, Melissa’s expertise includes creative strategy, digital and social media, scent marketing and experience design. Clients include Chevrolet, PNC Bank, OhioHealth, Teflon, Cat's Pride, Comedy Central, Mercedes, Jeep, the Detroit Historical Society and the Chrysler Design Awards. In addition to being a lot of fun to create, the work has won awards that include a Gold Clio, Site of the Day, the One Show, Cannes Lion and the New York Festivals.
Projects and positions include serving as Communications Chair of AIGA Detroit, Michigan Humane Society, Crime Stoppers, and the Detroit Historical Society Marketing Committee and lecturing at the College for Creative Studies. Editorial endeavors include serving as Editor-in-Chief of Birmingham Magazine and contributing to the book, What Is Your Life’s Work? (2005), Clear Magazine and Model-D, an online magazine that works to promote urban renewal in Detroit.
